Giants players selected for Regional & County Teams

As the Basketball season moves onto the summer months, since the league season finished a number of local basketball players that play for Giants Basketball Club are now turning their attention to gain not only County and Regional honours but also being apart of the National Teams in England and GB.
As we turn our attention top the County and regional teams a number of Giants players have recently been selected for Nottinghamsire.  
Over the previous weekend (10/11 June 2017) Alex Espin, Kai Waller, Sam Adair, Lucas Rigby, Jack Halstead and Harry Warren have also been selected for the U15 Nottinghamshire Boys team, winning two and one game abandioned due to injury, with Espin, Waller, halstead adn Amarin Williams (England training missed tournament) all selected for the initial U15 East Midlands Regional Team to play at the Basketball England Regional Development Tournament in September.
For the U15 Nottinghamshire Girls, Lucy-Ann Woodward who has played for the Giants Womens team this season, will also be kitting up and playing for Nottinghamshire, this will be Woodwards second time representing Nottinghamshire, having only started playing the game 18 months ago and on this occasion was selected for the initial U15 Girls East Midlands squad.   The U17 county squads have just been released as Russ Surgay will represent Nottinghamshire and Cameron Hearne and Toby Cooper will represent Derbyshire.  At the U13 age group Ben Wagstaff, Andre Ryan, William Burrows, Daniel Chambers, Lewis Bester all were selected to play for Nottinghamshire Boys teams with Chambers selected for the East Midlands squad.  Whilst Samworth Church Academy Student amd Giants player Megan Adair was also selected to play for the U13 Girls East Midlands Team, that will compete in the Regional Development Tournament in July.

The club has also been successful at the U11 age group with a number of players selected for the Nottinghamshire teams that play in the Mini Basketball Competitions, where Lukas Ancata, Dylan Waller, Thomas Gillen, Alice Woodward all represented the County, with the Girls team winning the East Midlands Tournament.  Alice Woodward was then selected to be apart of the final East Midlands team, that will play in this coming weekends tournament in Sheffield in which is a great achievement for the 10 year old again showcasing the female talent the club has on offer and developed over the years.

Finally Coach Dan Richards finishes of the representative honours as has been apart of the U17 Womens Coaching Team and recently appointed as the U17 East Midlands  Boys Head Coach for a second successive season.
